01

The context

The problem, people, and outcome in view.

Hamro Futsal was built for a seventh-semester academic project showcase to make futsal discovery, team management, bookings, match coordination, results, and ranking easier to manage in one web system.

The standout exploration was competitive matching. Instead of treating it as a solved machine-learning system, the team combined an Elo-like rating update with collaborative and content-based recommendations, trying alternatives and merging results to produce practical opponent suggestions. The system is a project prototype; the recommendations were not formally validated against a large production dataset.

03

The work

From decisions to the working product.

Process

The group jointly explored the recommendation approach through trial and error. Sujal Karki originated the direction for the algorithm and led the Django backend. Yumesh Ban and Rupesh Acharya completed most of the frontend. Yumesh led overall refinement and also supported Sujal on complex backend implementation.

Solution

Role-aware player and futsal-owner workflows for team, venue, booking, match, and result management. React frontend flows for login, registration, venues, booking, automatic slot generation, payments, history, match finalization, and Elo result presentation. Django/DRF models, serializers, and routes for accounts, bookings, venues, matches, payments, and notifications. Competitive-matching endpoints combining collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, hybrid recommendation merging, and Elo-like ranking updates. Email-capable booking and payment notifications.

04

The result

Proof over promises.

Do not claim that the recommendation system is proven accurate, fair, or production-ready. Do not claim live eSewa transactions without a recorded end-to-end transaction. Publicly credit Sujal Karki and Rupesh Acharya by name, with profile links when supplied.

Frontend / React

Hamro Futsal: React frontend engineering

Built and refined player- and owner-facing React workflows for the academic futsal platform with Rupesh Acharya. The interface supported teams, bookings, friendly matches, and recorded results.

Frontend / Responsive UI Engineering

Hamro Futsal: Responsive workflow design

Designed responsive screens for registration, teams, venues, bookings, match results, and payment-status journeys. The layouts were refined for a clear flow across different user roles and device sizes.

Backend / Django & Django REST Framework

Hamro Futsal: Django backend engineering

Contributed to Django application logic and complex backend implementation while Sujal Karki led the main backend and algorithm work. My role included integration support and overall product refinement.

Backend / Django & Django REST Framework

Hamro Futsal: Django REST Framework APIs

Connected the React interface to Django REST Framework endpoints for accounts, venues, bookings, teams, and matches. This kept frontend actions aligned with the system’s serialized application data.

Database / SQLite & Django ORM

Hamro Futsal: SQLite data modelling

Worked with the SQLite-backed model structure for users, teams, venues, bookings, matches, payments, and rankings. The data relationships supported the platform’s scheduling and competitive workflows.
